GuestGreat evening in Oregon. The gods are talking, and I’m listening. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

GuestOregon looks pretty! Glad you are enjoying yourself. To be perfectly honest, I would not have the guts to use my real name and then take pictures of myself and post it on a site that people from church could then come up to me and give me an earful. I admire you!
How do you deal with that? Is that okay to ask?

GuestI went fishing down the Mckensie river today and I have to admit Oregon is pretty great. Nice picture. July 2, 2013 at 7:39 am #270727Anonymous

I understand what you are saying. I was there at one time.
Now….I really have nothing to lose.

I would read cwald’s story in our archived posts. It represents some of the worst of what can happen in our culture.

GuestAre there any particular post that explain your story? I have look back at some old post but couldn’t find one that talked about that. July 4, 2013 at 4:43 pm #270731Anonymous
GuestI am the one who made the original comment, but let’s not derail this thread any more with stuff that’s not about cwald’s post. The best description of cwald’s story is in the following thread. Anyone who wants to read about it should go there. It’s one of the longest threads in our archives, and don’t jump to conclusions from the first few comments. There is clarification about 6-7 comments into it.

That was exactly what came into my mind when I read the post asking how cWald could be comfortable posting his picture. “He has nothing to lose”.
But I also spoke to God today. I don’t pray as much anymore as I find it empty, but I lay on my bed and simply think, and explain my thoughts and behavior and choices to God. I don’t really receive an answer, and I leave with the feeling I’m OK. And that many of the temporal concerns about which I’ve preoccupied myself over the years really don’t matter anymore.

GuestYes to worry is quite… Human. However we tend to worry a lot about stuff beyond our knowledge or self control. It helps not to spend to much time on that and more on the stuff we can control, ourselves and our reaction to life. I hope you find peace and joy SD. What ever way that might be.

GuestWow. That was a long thread. I can’t believe it’s been over two years.
So how is the “middle way” perceived by the church membership today? Anything changed in the last 26 months. I know Holland spent a couple days in the home of my SP brother…i would have loved to been a fly on the wall…has he and Uchdtdorf got the membership to back off…have they made any head way?
Anyway. These nights in Oregon are awesome. I’ve never felt closer to the gods. Here is another shot from my back yard…

GuestThe message is being preached, friend. Now it’s up to the membership to follow their prophets. (there is no hat tip image, so consider my hat tipped to you)

GuestI have been reading over your story for the last few days between BBQs, fireworks, grandkids and boating. Very interesting in deed. July 5, 2013 at 7:35 pm #270737Anonymous
GuestWell, I used Uchtdorf’s priesthood talk as my hometeaching lesson at the bishop’s house emphasizing that those who don’t go to PEC and such miss out on a lot of brotherhood and it is easy to not feel needed as well as how nice it was to get a “your doing good, try your best” talk like the sisters get periodically as opposed to the usual “you guys are failures and never measure up”, and he (the bishop) kind of smirked it off with a flippant comment about low hometeaching. Mentioned my disquiet at his reaction to mil at Sunday dinner and She was all in agreement about men not needing encouraging talks like the sisters. So I think we should be happy some GA’s see the issue but it may take awhile for the membership.
Sometimes I feel less like a sheep in a stall and more like Balaam’s donkey except people will actually listen to a talking donkey.
