Everybody knows that Saving Private Ryan is the speedy path to hell… (And it’s historically inaccurate too.)

    WHAT!!!???

Are you saying that Tom Hanks lied to us about WWII? Now I’m having a war movie crisis 😆 Please tell me that “Inglorious Bastards” was still a legitimate WWII documentary.

Brian, I would seriously advise against this. Looking things like this up is likely to lead you to many anti-Tom Hanks websites. They lie and take things out of context. There is no need for you to go beyond the cannon of Tom Hanks films for your historical understanding.

Sorry, I know I’m off topic here, but does Tom Hanks have some kind of Mormon connection? (I know he chipped in on the proposition whatever it was gay thing, but anything else?)

His Step Mother was a Mormon. Tom Hanks attended multiple churches while growing up including the LDS church. Tom Hanks later apologized for the Un American comment he made about the Mormons.

Time did a great article on the power of prayer to heal in 2009. Here’s a link: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1879179,00.html” class=”bbcode_url”>http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1879179,00.html and a couple of quotes:

    – “it matters a great deal whether subjects know they’re being prayed for. Give them even a hint as to whether they’re in the prayer group or a control group and the famed placebo effect can blow your data to bits.”

    – “There’s no science proving that the intercessions of others will make you well. But it surely does no harm — and probably helps — to know that people are praying for you.”

    – “those people who give help fare even better than those who receive it — a pillar of religious belief if ever there was one. He has also found that people who maintain a sense of gratitude for what’s going right in their lives have a reduced incidence of depression, which is itself a predictor of health.”

    – “people who believe their lives have meaning live longer than people who don’t.”
