I wish prayer worked like all the promises made about it.

It does – for some people and the promises they believe. It doesn’t for others.

Seems a tad unfair from a loving and just God. But then again maybe there are those who can not make it on their own and need some divine intervention. The rest of us have to do a bootstrap pull and get on with it.

I think we all have the option for divine intervention… intuition, subconscious, the kingdom of God within… however you choose to define it.

As if someone can make life seem like heaven or hell, FOR us.

    That’s the biggest lie, IMO.

It’s helpful for somebody who’s really struggling. I think of African American slaves who went through hell & their saving grace was a belief that their Savior went through even worse – for them.

And I do believe we have saviors in body & spirit… but nobody can change your thinking for you. And that is where your heaven or hell comes from… thoughts… which affect how we feel & act. Joseph Smith said we’re our own condemners (& I’d add, we’re also our own encouragers too).

So, if we really want to be happy… & not just superficially happy – but have a peace within that is beyond any circumstances… we need to take responsibility for our spirituality… & do a “bootstrap pull & get on with it.”

About life being so unfair… I see it this way…

God is TRUE PURE love. We are God’s hands… trying to love the best we know how.

Sometimes that love is way off… & we & others suffer from it.

Other times, that love is closer to what is really best/God’s will… & we’re blessed by it.
