Hi everybody. Thanks for adding me to the forum. Like many others I am confronting the doubts that have been collecting dust on my mind’s shelf for a long time. I grew up going to church in a somewhat complicated and tangled part member family, so the church was a big influence in the home, but there were other influences in direct opposition, in short, it was a house divided. In some ways I guess it has taught me to hear both sides of the story of almost anything.

So I was an on again off again throughout my life, sometimes to the point I swore I’d never walk away, and other times so far off I swore I’d never come back. So here I am again, kind of on the fence. So I am confronting these doubts and slowing down to ask, “Hang on, what do I actually believe? And why DO I believe that?”

To keep my intro brief I’ll post some more details in the support section. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. I believe your plan of asking yourself what you believe and why is sound – doing this (and it’s an ongoing thing for me at the moment) has been the most help to me.

Hi, Unknown – Glad you’re here. Seems like we’re always using analogies. I’d say this site helps me realize that the fence isn’t quite so high or uncomfortable as I thought.

Yes, Welcome. I try to imagine myself as a bridge builder. I scale the fence in order to communicate with those on the other side. That there should be no us or them, “neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.” It sounds more altruistic than it is. I simply long to find connection to others.

    You are among friends!
