Private Messages Don’t Leave Outbox

I sent a private message to you both, but it’s sitting in my outbox, as is another message I tried to send a while back to someone.

Is the private messaging system malfunctioning? Or am I working it improperly?

If you have access to the messaging system, perhaps you could look at it, it’s addressed to you both, and certainly isn’t bad news or anything.

The messages only leave the Outbox when the recipient logs on. Until then, it just sits in the Outbox and complains about being bored.

You can tell someone has received your message when it moves from the “Outbox” to the “Sent” box. It works different than email where it goes to the “Sent” folder as soon as you send it. phpBB Private Messaging is dependent on the other users logging in to “receive” the message.

One other possibility for messages getting stuck is when you have too many old messages in your “Inbox.” You will commonly encounter this on other phpBB boards. We have chosen, so far, to not put a limit on the number of private messages you can keep in your user account mailbox.
