Guesti have lived in my current living situation for about 1.5 years now. i have pretty good roommates. i trust them and they trust me. for that i am grateful. we are 3 bachelors renting a 3 bedroom condo apartment from our live-out landlord. one of the things that was a little hard to deal with at first was my roommates’ lack of interest in doing housework. i had been in that situation before so i had learned a little from that previous situation.
i just go about doing cleaning that they don’t do. a dirty bathroom bothers me so i clean it. i don’t get angry that my roommates don’t take turns cleaning the bathroom. i just do it myself. i don’t get angry if my roommate rarely ever takes the garbage or recyclables out anymore. i just have my own personal garbage and “recyclables” stash. i just make adjustments where i don’t get angry at a roommate – and it works.
but believe me i’ve gone through a lot of grief and venting to my fiance and others close to me to get to this point in my progression to being the perfect roommate. i have had a few run-ins with one of my roommates but all in all we have learned to be friends and for that i am grateful.
i guess the life lesson i wanted to share with folks here is life can be like that anywhere – church, work, school, or at home.
it’s easy to put ourselves on a pedestal and say “i’m doing so much better than my neighbor” and be prideful. cwald has mentioned in one post he shared about “temple-ites” lol. referring to President’s past talk on “pride” it is just very human of us to “elevate ourselves above another” or “to diminish another”.
but progressing to not being a “temple-ite” or any kind of “ite” where we don’t “elevate ourselves above another” takes time and i will be the first to admit it.
have you had life experiences where you have had challenging daily or weekly situations that you feel you have progressed as a person ? Do share with us
lastly –
do you ever think what kind of spirit to you bring into your daily or weekly life whether here online, at work, at church, at school, or at home ?Most definitely something to think about isn’t it ?

GuestSomebody asked me today what pride was, and I said it was the state of continually comparing ourselves to others. We do that all the time, but when we start thinking we are better than or worse than other people, we become proud. I think this applies to your situation.
The truth is that I am superior to you in some ways, and inferior to you in others. That’s how it is. But I’m neither superior nor inferior to you in general.

I try to do so all the time. I often don’t succeed – but I try.

 I think the everyday situations are where the true you shines out. These are the very moments you really show your faith and belief in things, and is why family and friends are so important.
Thanks for the thought BLC!
