I just got word that our second son, who is graduating from college this weekend and was the president of his fraternity last year, was just named the best example of Christian values on campus.

I’m really proud of him, especially since I think he, his fiance and our other son are the only members on campus this year.

That is one of the best parent brags ever. Congratulations to them and to you. It is a fantastic reflection on all of you.

Did you say he goes to Oral Robert university? Just kidding. That great news and I am sure you are proud of him.

He graduated summa cum laude with a 3.9283 GPA – the highest male GPA in his graduating class.

Their fraternity advisor told me after the ceremony:

    Quote:

“I have loved working with your sons. (Our oldest is the current president of the same fraternity.) I never had to worry on Monday about what the fraternity brothers had done over the weekend, and it is obvious how much your sons love each other.”

The older one chose to serve a mission at the age of 21, after we thought he wouldn’t; this one chose not to serve a mission, after we assumed he would (for lots of reasons), in order to not abandon his fiancĂ© for two years to her anti-Mormon family. He chose the young woman he loves over a mission, and I could not have been prouder of his priorities.

Yeah, I’m proud of him – but more for the example he set on campus and the young man he is than for the GPA.
