GuestThank you Sam and Curt for those comments. I think I’ll go ahead and do it! May 8, 2018 at 3:11 pm #328891Anonymous
GuestKatzpur, I’m sorry that Allie is in need of help. I get you. I know how it is to be so attached to a cat or dog and then to watch them decline. It’s the unfortunate and inevitable consequence of the love we invest in them that we lose a part of ourselves in them. I wish you both well.

I think this is the key factor. You aren’t doing it to stick it to anyone or their beliefs. You aren’t just being contrary. There are plenty of people who willingly trample the faith or culture of others simply because they can and they do it with pleasure. In your case, you are just trying to tap into the vehicle of faith in behalf of a loved one. I’ve called the temple on occasion to add a name to the roll and at no time have I ever been asked if I am a member, if I have a recommend, if I believe in God, or if the name is deserving of blessings. This is a service the Church provides. As long as we are grateful for the service and respectful of it, then I see no fault in trying to access faith through them.May 8, 2018 at 3:50 pm #328892Anonymous

Thank you so much! I love everything you said in your final paragraph. I don’t know why it hadn’t occurred to me to look at the situation from that perspective.
