Since I was a single Father, and realized that besides the fact that I could not physiologically give birth like a woman, I did concede the point in Gospel Principles that I could do just about everything that a woman could do when it came to raising kids. I even suggested that if the Lord wanted to give the Priesthood to women that I would not have a hard time with it, and didn’t even care if it happened. I got a lot of sighs and looks like what the bleap are you saying. I guess I’m pretty liberal, but the whole idea is: I have seen men mis-administering in the Priesthood and have struggled with my own tendencies toward unrighteous dominion to suggest that if men cannot be worthy to hold the Priesthood than why not have women hold it. Thanks Jamison. Good question.

It wouldn’t bother me in the slightest if women were able to perform ordinances outside the temple, since I believe they are endowed with the Priesthood in the temple. Just a thought I was pondering: Do you think it would be more difficult for the Men or the Women to accept a gender-neutral Priesthood policy change?
Pres. GBH really surprised me on Larry King. He was asked what it would take for women to receive the priesthood and instead of saying that it wasn’t part of God’s plan – He said all it would take is a revelation through the current prophet of the church. Judging from some of the things I’ve read about the priesthood’s role for presiding and how the priesthood restores man to his proper place in the home, I believe that the men would have the harder time with sharing it.
Yesterday I helped set apart 3 new Aaronic Priesthood presidencies and as I was standing in the circle once I remember opening my eyes and looking at the hands of those participating. They were all men, and the moms of the young men were sitting in the room listening to the settings-apart. I had a strong thought enter my mind that some day women will be doing the same thing but that it may be a long time. I mentally toyed with the idea, wondering what the first woman bishop would be like, and how you’d roll out the priesthood to women. Would you start with the Aaronic Priesthood and gradually work your way up, or would you roll it out in one “big bang.” It was an interesting mental exercise for me but I think both men and women would struggle with the change. I also think that women would be as apt to exercise unrighteous domination as men. I know lots of women in my workplace that thoroughly enjoy their positions of power – as much as men do.
I hope someday women hold the priesthood and leadership positions.
Recently my wife said something funny… “I am fine with not having the priesthood… I think God gave it to men so at least they would have to do SOMETHING! The women take care of most everything else”
