GuestIt is likely a topic he can’t resist will come at some point. June 10, 2016 at 2:35 am #301356Anonymous
GuestIn all honesty, I don’t really know why I try to moderate Rob’s hyperbole. Perhaps the Lord knows I need to learn compassion, patience, and charity.
…because the Lord reads everything on the Internet, right?
:wtf: Is there any hope to try to coach him on how to discuss something without wild-ass emotional outbursts and accusations against the church?
God bless him.

GuestI occurs to me that us admins and mods make up the overwhelming majority of the responses to Rob’s comments. The wolf you feed… or alternatively, “you can lead a horse to water…” I think he enjoys discovering logic traps within the context of Mormonism and using them to hold people’s feet to the fire. That and I feel as though some of his more recent comments directed at OON feel like he’s out to “win” a debate.
Do you think his participation here scares lurkers away? Does his participation make the non-regulars less likely or more likely to post?
Ordinarily I’d say he doesn’t scare people off but the
thread? An American Fraud — One Lawyer’s Case Against MormonismNow if you’ll excuse me, I have a wolf to feed.

GuestI already fed the wolf today. I agree with what both of you have said. It bugs me to no end that he always falls back the “the church teaches (X)….” despite the fact that most of us don’t buy into whatever it is to begin with. June 10, 2016 at 4:38 pm #301359Anonymous
GuestI think most people see what he is doing and more dismiss him than it really scares them away. What I worry about is if he is trolling for admins with “skirt the line” comments and then it makes us look more heavy handed than we are. That might make people gun shy to post.

GuestI am an avoider for the most part. I do however wonder about lurkers. Our purpose is to help people stay engaged with the LDS community and I wonder if he has any interest in that. I can’t tell from online time. I do read the threads and am impressed with all of you. I have little patience for him. June 10, 2016 at 6:49 pm #301361Anonymous
Guestnibbler….could you try to keep an eye out to if he is going to join under a new name with the same IP? June 10, 2016 at 8:06 pm #301362Anonymous

That’s easy enough to do, but I don’t think it’s part of his M.O. While I do question his sincerity and share the concern about lurkers, I also think he doesn’t want to put that much effort in and that he knows we can track that.

I’ll do it but I’m with DJ, I don’t think he’d do that. That one extra account he created was because he took a break, forgot his password in the interim, and got locked out. I guess he missed the instruction to reenter a captcha phrase.
He self imposed a timeout period. I don’t think we have much to worry about.

GuestI locked the tread. Sorry for being absent most of this week. You all did a fantastic job with him. I don’t want to ban him, so I hope he leaves on his own – or just stops posting reviews (which I don’t trust to be fully honest, in that I don’t know if he actually is reading them currently).
