I was disappointed. I’ve heard him do better. He was on my short list for apostle.
Bragg Why is the light of the gospel second to the light of the church?
I’m on board with his perspective of the gospel and family.
Elder Bragg’s talk is a mixed bag. There is a lot of good, but there also is some that I don’t like or is just “bleh”. ydeve, I actually think he is going in reverse order, given that the Light of Christ is third.
He finally gets around to the light of Christ. I’m not sure he sees it as more than something internal as opposed to the Father’s lighthouse or the light that shines from it. ETA: Although subtle he did distinguish between the church and the gospel.
Makes sense. I’m not sure how our conscience is supposed to help us feel empathy and understanding of others. Seems like his definition of the Light of Christ is more external and broad than the typical explanation.
This fire fighter story is a good one, especially since it highlights a sensitivity within a “non-member” that was lacking in a member. I just saw a reincarnation of a young Elton John in the choir. Ironic, to say it mildly. 😆 Bro. Bragg – I enjoyed this! Third time John 3:16 was quoted. There was a time it was rarely quoted in the church. Nelson That was a nerve-wracking introduction.
😆 Given how I tend to feel neagatively about Pres, Nelson’s talks, I am trying hard to not make prior judgments. We will see how that goes. I like studying Jesus as one’s “personal core curriculum”. I like the description of the atonement as Christ’s mission, instead of a single event. I love the distinction between “The Atonement” and Jesus Christ. That is powerful and necessary – and I LOVE that he kind of dissed one of the phrases I loathe: “applying the Atonement”. I have said for a long time that Jesus’ atonement is eternal in length of time, not just one or two events.
