Oh MYGOSH. You heard it here first. Same Sex Attraction has room in the choir.
There is room for . . . lots of differing things . . . for everyone. (including differing sexual attractions) Maybe not marriage yet. But room. Join my bench. There has always been room on it. This is a Sunday School – RS – Comment. I will be leaving soon to take my daughter to a theater production. I am going to include Elder Holland’s talk in my request for a 5th Sunday lesson about mormonandgay.org . The choir is signing the words. I love that. I am still in shock. I was just typing to DJ about the LGBT issue when Holland threw out the statement. I am barely breathing in shock. mom3 wrote:

I’ll believe it when they walk the walk instead of talking the talk.
Edit: Sorry for the cynicism. Keep up the slow work. I just can’t base my life on their empty promises.
Holland’s talk didn’t do it for me. Sure he said some things that needed to be said and I’m grateful for it but he also said some things that rang 100% hollow for me. I’ve been trying to capture a specific message this conference, a message that I need for my unique situation, a message that perhaps a general conference is incapable of giving. I’ll show myself the exit now.
I understand, ydeve – but it now has been said over the GC pulpit. That is not an insignificant thing. I just got multiple text messages from my kids ecstatic that it was said. It is a necessary start.

I totally get it. I am not asking anyone to do that. But a top GA just gave those of us who can push to push harder at opening the door of inclusion. I plan to take it as far as I can. I also plan to take the multiple messages about serving the needy, stop bullying and including of everyone. We have mega miles to go and I will use every piece of leverage I can find.
I am totally happy to let those who have been hurt to take all the time they need.
It is fascinating to hear this talk directly after Elder Holland’s talk. Yep, we aren’t there yet – so I am even more happy to hear the messages we need to hear. (I am not saying this is a bad talk, since there are some really good aspects – but it is a classic mixed bag. There are a few things that are really bad advice for most people here.)

All-in is conflating church and gospel. But “standing up inside” is a good way to put it. That is a great observation, ydeve. I like it. I don’t like the Great and Spacious connection. We all are in that building in my opinion.
