With that many families on the list, skip the home teaching and just petition to start a branch; you’ve got plenty of people.
I sent off an email the guy who assigned the families, indicating what I was willing to do. I asked to have the excessive number of names removed from my companionship area in the MLS computer system. I am in control of how I donate my time. That is my premise. It’s funny — years ago a wise teacher mentioned that “God wants you to give him your agency, and Satan wants to take it from you”. There are times when I feel priesthood leaders also want to just take it from you. By telling you that you have an assignment and to report back how it goes. I am not saying they are Satanic, but that they do at times, out of frustration, just enlist you without your permission. And I think one has to assert themselves, or else they think that style of leadership is inspired — and its not, in my opinion.

Agreed. That is a big lesson about going to church and staying involved. You learn from those experiences based on how you handle things with others, and you don’t always have those same opportunities when you just go inactive and don’t want to deal with others.
