GuestSo I was snooping through the Administrator Control Panel, and phpBB is very flexible. We can easily give people standard moderating capabilities, without giving them administrator or global moderating status. This could be useful if we find that we need someone to help moderate a specific forum. For example:
Suppose that we needed more help moderating the History and Doctrine section. We could pick a user, and give him/her
standard(but not global) moderating capabilities just for that forum. This is a very effective method for pushing the moderating tasks down to the users, without giving them full privileges to the site and other forums. Even more specifically, we can edit the user permissions of each user to be exactly what we want. I’m not sure if we’re still in need of more help in moderating (it seems like we’re handling it pretty well right now, but I know Ray has mentioned he’s spending two hours each day doing it). If we are, this mechanism allows the users we want to sort of be like a pre-filter to the filtering that we do as global moderators and administrators.
Anyway, just thought I would mention that phpBB allows for much more flexibility than we are currently using right now. As the site grows and we get more users, we may want to explore these options more seriously.
I don’t know if you all are well versed in this, but being the true nerd/geek that I am, I couldn’t help but explore and investigate the possibilities.

GuestI can navigate the administrative side of this forum just enough to be slightly functional and/or dangerous.
Your expertise is very helpful.
