GuestSince Sunday, December 6, my DH and I have been attending Sacrament Meeting. Something is happening and I’m finding it difficult to put into words what I am feeling. Perhaps I should keep quiet for now. In time, I may be able to express how I am changing. I’m sorry this is so cryptic. It’s just that I’m feeling very sensitive and want to see where this journey is taking me. I will say that DH has said that if someone told him a year ago that he and I would be attending church together, he would have thought that an impossibility. Today in Sacrament Meeting, the guest speakers were Brother and Sister Farrell M. Smith. Brother Smith was called in November 2008 to serve as director of the Oakland Temple Visitors Center. The highlight of Brother Smith’s talk, at least for me, was when he read “A Memo From God.” You may already have heard or read the memo. The words especially touched me given our current financial struggles. Here is part of the memo:
Quote:I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help.
If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.
Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.
Peace, Kalola

GuestThanks, Kalola. That is a great quote. I am glad to hear you had a good experience. It reminds me of some advice a wonderful sister in Arlington, MA told my wife YEARS ago when she was struggling to care for our young children each Sunday while I served as the Seminary teacher in a small branch miles away. It was hard, and my wife wondered aloud one day why I couldn’t be there to help her. My memory version is:
Quote:There is a bridge spanning a canyon that is very deep. Far below the bridge a small stream runs through the canyon. The local people regularly take pieces of paper, write their hurt feelings and bitterness on the paper and drop them from the bridge to the stream below. In the middle of the bridge, where the people drop their notes, is a sign which says, simply:
NO FISHING!

GuestIt sounds like an interesting adventure for you Kalola. I just love seeing how new things develop these days, just taking it all in as things happen. -
