GuestI taught priesthood meeting last week. I was out of lessons so I used a conference talk. I use the talk from brother Kristofferson from the April conference. the talk was on what is doctrine and what is not. a great talk that everyone should read and take to heart. when referring to changes in the doctorine over time a person in the class said “He says we still expect to have new things revealed. people get upset and think the gospel is supposedly changing…I think the gospel is staying the same..the church doctrine ifs just changing to come into alignment with the true gospel as we become mature enough to accept it.”
I found this to be a very profound statement…makes me wonder if we are not on the verge of a change as old minds are forced to change as the Lord is able to finally enlighten them

GuestEither that or the Lord provided us the gospel at the beginning of the restoration and we just continue to stray further and further away from it. That would be more in line with what the scriptures say is going to happen IMHO.
But either way, yes, I’m sure we’re on the verge of further change.

GuestOnce again, thanks for the fundamentalist perspective, Bruce.

I agree with that statement – and see it as true of the entire scope of our scriptural canon. I believe there have been ebbs and flows along the way, small and large (and, in some cases, massive), including from 1830 – 2012, but I do believe in an evolution of spiritual, religious understanding over time. I believe “The Restoration” was a huge step forward in many ways, but I also see it as much more an on-going process and a continuation than as an event.
I believe there are “many great and important things pertaining to the kingdom of God” yet to be revealed – and I believe strongly that the general direction of the change is and will continue to be positive, not negative. Some might not like the speed of change (seeing it as too slow OR too fast), but I personally like the direction over the years of my own adulthood.
