I have never been a big South Park fan. I know many of you have seen the infamous All About The Mormons episode. If I had watched it back in 2003 when it first aired I would have probably been offended. Anyhow, I just recently watched it… it made me laugh, and surprisingly its message was exactly what I was needing.

In the final scene Gary (the new kid) was defending his Mormon faith. This is what he had to say…

“Look… maybe us Mormons do believe in crazy stories that make absolutely no sense, and maybe JS did make it all up, but I have a great life and a great family and I have the BOM to thank for that. The truth is… I don’t care if JS made it all up, because what the church teaches now is loving your family, being nice and helping people… I still choose to believe in it”

Okay.. as a non-believing Mormon who stays actively LDS out of love for my family, this actually touched me. I want to be more like Gary! :)

Yeah, if you can laugh at yourself, that is a great episode.
