The struggles and feelings described by the men and women in this article hit close to home, as do some of the reasons they stay.

This statement hit close to home for me, and I’ve seen similar sentiments here on the forums:

    Quote:

‘It was the most devastating moment of my life,’ he told me. ‘I wish to this day that I could find the holy grail that proves that I’m wrong, that it’s all true.’

I don’t know any Hasidics, but I do know some unbelieving Jews. They stay for the same reason some of us do – because it’s their culture, the only thing they know. Anything else is too unfamiliar.

It’s good to remember we aren’t alone or unique. We are humans, and humans experience many things similarly.

That does seem to parallel the same as many LDS experiences.

As I have mentioned, my FC did have that free-fall moment, but I didn’t crash all the way to atheist and in fact I can’t say for sure I feel that the LDS church is all bunk. I can say that I feel a BUNCH of it is.
