GuestI don’t get worked up about this stuff much anymore, but I do try to win “converts” whenever I have the time. Here’s a recent claim that StayLDS (and I) are the “Fifth Column” (whatever that means).
http://www.mormonapologetics.org/topic/45242-the-fifth-column/ Feel free to jump in if you feel you can do so constructively, and if you feel so moved. I made a comment towards the end of the thread. Usually they lock the topic once I get involved.
Anyway — love you guys. Thanks for all you are doing.

GuestLove to hear more if you get to break bread with that guy. September 15, 2009 at 1:22 am #223202Anonymous
GuestHmmm … Islam has 5 pillars. I wonder if those are the same as columns? The fifth pillar of Islam is the Hajj, or travel to the holy place. Perhaps they mean that StayLDS is a holy place that Mormons can journey to
You are right to try and make friends and allies. We are friends of the Church. I am friends with God now, in my sojourn through the rest of my life. We’re on the same team. My desire is to reach out to my brothers and sisters, those who are the most difficult for normal members of the Church to reach, and to help them be at peace, even happy in our LDS community.

GuestJohn, I read through many of the first 4 pages. It looks like the jury’s still out on whether you’re a good guy or a bad guy. Count me in the good guy group!!!!
Thanks for all you’ve done, and I’m glad to be part of this. All in all, I didn’t expect a glowing review of StayLDS, and it was more positive than expected. I hope you are able to get together with Will and change his mind. I’m so impressed with your openness–I wish I felt safe enough to reach out like you do, but I’m glad I can keep spreading your good message here in relative anonymity.

GuestI thought all but the two extremists were in agreement that John’s a mensch. Count me in that group! And to be liked by Will and Dan might not be a compliment, after all. Some people want the church to be an exclusive club that even their own mothers can’t get into. September 15, 2009 at 8:00 pm #223205Anonymous
GuestYou know I’ve often thought that the world would be a much better place if more of us lived Christ’s teachings rather than argue over who is authorized to preach them. In some sense, to me, this is some of my disillusionment – that we care so much about who is right and who is wrong, who has authority, who has the right ordinances, and who has correct claims to divine intervention. I’m much more interested in becoming what I’m designed to become than fitting into a mold defined by men (note my cool new (and extra long) signature).
