At about 8:45 on my way to the computer to log into reddit, I flipped the porch light on for our oldest who was out with friends and sparks flew. A quick trip to Wal-Mart for a replacement switch turned into – ‘oh yeah, the shower head fitting needs to be replaced’ and ‘are we out of bird food?’ I got home in time to drop my husband off with material for four fix-it jobs and then to go pick my son up from an activity which ended at 10pm.
Story of a mother’s life.
So… whaddidimiss?
You can catch up with it all.
All the questions are still there and you can still post replies to them.

GuestReddit is weird. Late last night when I visited there were something like 66 comments. Today it only shows 44. There were some book recommendations that I meant to write down, but they’re nowhere to be found now. I think it was Orson and Ray who replied, maybe someone else. Care to repeat yourselves?

GuestTry seeing if any of the questions and answers have been collapsed when you look at it. If there are initial comments with a [+] next to them, click the [+] to open the discussions. January 19, 2014 at 5:24 pm #278474Anonymous
GuestGrr. I meant to join this, but got busy and missed the time frame. Love to join it again in the future if there is one. January 19, 2014 at 11:56 pm #278475Anonymous
GuestWhen I went looking I had to kind of look twice. The link Bran posted only has the “pre” AMA comments. Too find the “real” thread, I had to type StayLDS in the search bar. (in my computer it was on the right side). Then, I ended up with two threads the old one and the new one. I hope helps people find it if they are interested. “Mormon Scientist” about Henry Eyring (Father of Pres. Eyring), “The God who Weeps” by Terryl Givens, “Religion and the pursuit of Truth” by Lowell Bennion, Reflections of a Mormon Historian by Leonard Arrington, and a lot of other writings by Eugene England, Richard Bushman and a lot of Mormon intellectual types. For me it was all about learning to trust both my mind and heart, and keep them in balance. I finally realized I don’t have to believe anything the same way somebody else does, I can look to Truth and God (being redundant there) and just let things be revealed to me in the way I can understand them. I think God is good with that.

GuestThanks, Orson! Those books are now on The List. January 20, 2014 at 6:57 pm #278478Anonymous
GuestI loved Nibley as a youth, since they taught me that it’s okay to see things differently than everyone else around me. “Jesus before Christianity” by Albert Nolan (non-Mormon) is really good.
