GuestI have no problem with the watchman analogy, but I hope this doesn’t move to battle language or fear-based framing. It could go either way. I was concerned at first, but it is moving away from the undesirable one.

GuestI’ve missed quite a bit – has there been a prayer given by a woman during one of the general sessions? April 2, 2017 at 8:21 pm #319732Anonymous
GuestYes, Joni, there has been. April 2, 2017 at 8:21 pm #319733Anonymous

Yes. I believe it was this session (they all start to run together) that started off with a woman giving the prayer.

GuestThis is too close to rhetoric that’s been used to attack me. I think I’ll give the rest of the talk a pass. April 2, 2017 at 8:23 pm #319735Anonymous
GuestChristofferson and I have a tug of war relationship. Oh sounds by Brene Brown quote on shaming. He isn’t a fan.

GuestWarning about sin is a two-edged sword, since sin is so subjective. It can lead to the opposite of true love, and it can lead easily to judgmentalism. I wonder if he realizes the elements of shame culture in our church; I wish he would make it clear. I agree with the distinction between guilt and shame, but I’m not sure he can see it clearly among us.

GuestSandwich time again. I will be back. April 2, 2017 at 8:26 pm #319740Anonymous
GuestThis is one for most people here to skip. Seriously. Void of cultural context, it actually isn’t that bad, in theory – but it can’t be divorced from cultural context.

GuestThis is such an odd, heavy-handed talk. April 2, 2017 at 8:27 pm #319742Anonymous
GuestI stopped at blessed are they when men shall revile and persecute you. April 2, 2017 at 8:28 pm #319743Anonymous
GuestOn the plus side I do love that we have a diversity of thought coming over the pulpit. That widens a tent on it’s own. I may not agree with everyone, but each of them have delivered their heart. -
