In our increasingly modest mormon world we can easily forget balance. This little piece was a sweet reminder for me.

It’s not just about modesty but about body acceptance and coming to terms with the illusion that society tells us we should look like. And not for ourselves but for our kids as well. It’s good to remember that the airbrushed, glossy, nipped and tucked, half starved images we see on the super market check out magazine stand rarely exist in nature. Here’s another Huffington Post link that speaks to this issue. In spite of the title there is no nudity. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zanthe-taylor/the-glories-of-nudity_b_5352398.html

Yes. We really have created both inside and outside of the church an unhealthy approach to the beautiful human form. If it’s not “nipped and tucked” as you say we feel less willing to show it.

It is in area’s like this that I like to believe in a God That Weeps. I think that’s what I like about this post, the importance of appreciating this amazing body for all it’s joy.
