I’m not crying. Well, okay, I’m crying. The picture of that 7-year-old boy will stay with me for a while.

    Wonderful job.

    Update #3 –

The show is now going on the road.

The neighboring Stake will be doing a similar repeat of our Saturday Session. Their Stake President is on our Shelter’s Interfaith/Community Executive board. (His wards have been serving at the shelter for a few years).

On Super Bowl Sunday (only Mormons think of this) the speaking crew from our Stake Conference will be holding a regional Q & A with the Single Adults in our region.

I am thinking it’s time for t-shirts. Or at least those plastic stretchy bracelets? What do you think?

I had recently mentioned to someone here about assumptions. For example, our stake conference falls during March Madness. A few years back one of the speakers in the Saturday priesthood leadership session said something about there being no basketball fans there, strongly implying that we were so righteous and obedient that we chose to attend our meeting instead of staying home and watching basketball. Meanwhile, I’m sitting there looking at scores and even watching part of a game on my tablet. And looking around, I saw several others doing the same thing. We shouldn’t assume that we’re all there for the reason we think they are or that being there is a sign of righteousness. I see the Super Bowl meeting thing as similar. There’s either an assumption that Mormons don’t watch the SB anyway so why not have a meeting that day (and perhaps judge those who don’t come in favor of the SB) or an idea that if we schedule a meeting then people will be shamed into coming or just plain ignorance that the SB is the same day because whoever scheduled it is not a football fan.

I know that was a bit of a tangent. I hope your presentation goes as well there as it did in your own stake.

Ha. You remind me of my first SP, now a temple president. He’d purposely schedule a stake PH meeting during the Super Bowl to take away everyone’s temptation of watching a sportsball game on a Sunday. Us Pharisees that showed up knew who the real saints were.

You knock it but it earned him a promotion.
