GuestEveryone: Here is the guidance on how teachers councils work in the two hour block:
https://www.lds.org/manual/teaching-in-the-saviors-way/teacher-council-meetings?lang=eng Teacher Council Meetings“Teacher Council Meetings,” Teaching in the Savior’s Way (2015)
Each ward should hold quarterly teacher council meetings in which teachers can counsel together about principles of Christlike teaching.
When should these meetings be held?Teacher council meetings should normally take place during the 50-minute class time of the two-hour schedule of Sunday meetings.
Priesthood, Relief Society, and Young Women teachers can attend on either the first or third Sunday, as determined by local leaders.
Sunday School teachers can attend on either the second or fourth Sunday, as determined by local leaders.
Primary teachers can attend on any Sunday, as determined by the ward Primary and Sunday School presidencies. If desired, Primary teachers may meet separately from other teachers to counsel about the unique needs of teaching children. More than one council may be held during a quarter for Primary teachers, with only a portion of teachers attending each, so that all the teachers do not miss Primary classes the same week. (Note: As needed, the Primary presidency assigns substitute teachers, combines classes, or makes other arrangements to allow Primary teachers to attend teacher council meetings.)
My question — as you read this, does it appear that the PH, RS, and YW get one quarterly meeting, and the SS teachers get a different quarterly meeting? LIke this, potentially…as one option in say February.First Sunday: PH, RS, YW teachers
Second Sunday: SS Teachers
Primary (we have a separate training for them, with a separate facilitator other than myself, so I won’t put that here)

GuestYes, the way I understand it is RS/PH/YW/YM go on the SS Sunday and SS teachers go on the other Sunday but they’re both only once per quarter. Other than doing it outside the block, which was never part of the “program,” I don’t see any other way to do it. Like many other callings, yours just got lots easier. Way easier.
I wrote to our SS president, copying our Bishop and Primary President on my plan for the year for their consideration. Bishop thanked me for my “input” and said he’d get back to me. I normally don’t copy a person’s “boss” but things are so loosey goosey in our Ward I figured this would be the only way to make the conversation about who does what in teacher’s council happen.
One thing that kind of concerns is me is an apparent shift toward leaders holding the councils, not some experienced teacher person like me called to do it…so I wonder if a release is imminent.

Quote:
Who leads these meetings? The ward council, with assistance from the Sunday School presidency, oversees teacher council meetings. In most cases, a member of the Sunday School presidency acts as discussion leader for the meetings; other ward members may be assigned to lead meetings
on occasion(emphasis mine — SD) The only thing I have going for me is that the SS president doesn’t like the job or do much, and as far as I know, he doesn’t have any active counselors. Another thing they could do is try to make me a SS Pres counselor, do nothing (they have me listed as a SS teacher on our website), or release me. I was never formally set apart, though, so that should be pretty easy. I feel like I’m in a common law relationship with my Ward
