He’s not LDS. What he talks about applies to what many of us have & do experience today.

I would love to hear a variation of this talk in my next sacrament meeting.

As a side thought: I want to thank all of you who participate on the site for sharing your stories with me.

It is an act of trust to speak, even anonymously, about your lives, stories, doubts & your crisis of faith.

I want to thank you too for listening to my story & giving me feedback that I can use to redefine my faith within the LDS church.

My beliefs have been changing & developing in a way that I couldn’t imagine back on 15 Sep 2011.

Back then, I thought that the only way out of my situation was going to be having my name removed from the church rolls.

All of you have helped in a very profound way. Thanks again.

I was finally able to watch this. Dang that was good. And I know I have said it before, but I too very much appreciate this site and the folks on here. For those that feel just as I do, for those that see things a bit different, but don’t push me to believe just as they do. It has helped me quite a bit. Thanks!

I loved the story in the first five minutes, and would have loved to hear him extrapolate out that concept of uncertainty in religious context being OK. But that’s not what the talk was. I thought it turned into a lame, anti-capitalism rant. My $0.02.

I agree that the beginning story was a great hook. We all know that Jesus didn’t come back on 2000 and can see some of the ridiculousness of the whole situation. He uses that story to then transition to some of the other things that he has placed his faith in and how they too were not as fulfilling as he had expected. I agree that he has an agenda – but that is the whole point of giving a speech – to promote your agenda/idea.

As someone who has competed in area and regional Toastmaster’s speech contests, I was very impressed with the quality of the speech – even if I might quibble with some of the ideas.
