GuestHi guys, In response to ‘Zelph on the shelf’s’ poem. I was feeling the usual slump of a faith crisis and thought I would try something creative to give my mind some relief. So here it is. I don’t know what you call things like this maybe an abstract poem. Anyway let me know what you think.
a safe bay
light shines brightly from above
pure safe the message is clear
beautiful to the mind
jump in
water, refreshing to the body
ingages my spirit
my soul is open to the message
love, peace, kindess, integrity
safety from the ocean
succumb willingly to the truth
my spirit is awakened
my soul delighteth in truth
love, peace, kindness, integrity
I want to to know it all
swim deeper into the truth
strengthen your muscles
swim deeper into the bay
the bottom can not be seen, nor found
what lies beneath
the water shone clear
the depth is confounding my mind
I know the light of the bay
a safe haven,
protection from rougher seas
there is no danger in the bay
payment to the bay is given to maintain order
respect, submission, a payment for safety
stories of the bay emerge
a dangerous past
ships were broken
sharks layed in waiting
the bay drags me deeper
show compassion for the bay is true
have faith in the bay
give in to the depth of the bay
submit all to the bay
I give all I have to the bay
Tredding water becomes easier
the bay is stregthening me
I can see another come unto me belive in the bay for it is true
it will strengthen you as it has me
submitt to the bay
the bay needs to humble you
strengthen your faith to protect you from a wilder ocean
the bays beauty becomes lessended through a cover of cloud
the water roughens
transperency is gone
raging winds shake my soul
the rocks beneath the bay lash at my body
where is my friend to guide me to safety
I can no longer find my friend
peace, kindnesss, integrity
lost, forgotten or tainted by the depth of its life
the message was pure
the message was love
the light bore sparkling sand, peaceful waters
now the water is murky
tossed and turned by the power of nature
transparency is no longer clarity
truth is now present
the bay coud not stand under pressure
no claim of safety from the ocean could be upheld
my heart is extended but the pure message lost in depth
learned from the lessons of the bay
I swim to shore and emerge from the bay
the winds calm
the light is shining and the water shimmers
the bays beauty retuns
but the view from my eyes forever changed
after all the bay was just another bay

GuestHNA, thanks for sharing this. I benefit from your take. There seem to be a lot of water-themed analogies about faith crises. You might want to look at nibbler’s discussion of the church as a lighthouse. It really helped me see it more compassionately, but only after the massive disillusionment you’re describing.
