I’m wondering if anyone here has read “The Backslider” by Levi Petterson? It’s an older book – maybe 30-40 years old, but it nails so many aspects of the Church right on the head. A wonderful, wonderful read if you’re able to find it. I read it and loved it. It is sort of a reality check for living Mormon in rural Utah some 50 years ago. The other post about sci-fi made me think of this book. I read it just a few years ago and even though I didn’t grow up in Utah, I thought it was hilarious and a bit thought provoking. I know I couldn’t talk about this book in sunday school. I did give it to one guy that is smart as can be and has no issues with people having all kinds of belief’s (and can be quite irreverent to say the least). He also loved it.
