GuestBrian, you inspire me! I think we need a clear definition on our terms…stay tuned… June 8, 2012 at 4:43 pm #253247Anonymous
GuestI think the term is a bit too redolent of Buddhism, which calls itself the Middle Way… and also of fence sitting. Incidentally agnostics are accuse d of the same, it’s not true though. June 8, 2012 at 4:57 pm #253248Anonymous

And? What is your point?
Maybe I don’t understand what “redolent” means?

Buddhism is another religion, therefore “of the devil”. I’m interested in Buddhism (apart from some of the creepier aspects of Tibetan Buddhism which do verge into the left hand path)… but it maybe implies we’re not proper Mormon. I think we are proper Mormons, just a bit unusual.

GuestOkay…that makes sense Sam. I think you are correct about the “therefore “of the devil” idea that floats around in our church…actually, in all churches. June 8, 2012 at 5:07 pm #253251Anonymous
GuestI had some Buddhist books in the house, and I got told by a missionary, “you know Buddhism is of the devil”. I’ve got a lot of material the church would frown upon… Of course some of this stuff would constitute, “the philosophies of men, mixed with scripture”… but some of it is genuinely inspiring. Where are Mormonism’s koans and satori? Where is its art? (We have pitifully little original art, most of it seems to be reproduced.)
I don’t worship Shugden either –

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorje_Shugden_controversy I’m going to start a new thread on this. Don’t want to derail this one, but something has been bothering me.
