GuestI saw an article today and thought everyone here might be interested, especially since it addresses one element of the membership at the conservative extreme. “
Mormon Church makes new push for environmental stewardship“ My favorite quote:
Quote:“The Earth and all things on it should be used responsibly to sustain the human family. However, all are stewards — not owners — over this Earth and its bounty and will be accountable before God for what they do with his creations.”

GuestThe cynic in me says it sounds good but little will actually be done at the local level. There are too many other pressing issues in everyday management of a ward or branch. I really wish it would happen. My wife works in the library and makes an abundance of copies that just get thrown away. That’s just one small thing. What does happen is related to money. Use more energy efficient practices to keep utility costs down.

GuestThere’s so much waste in our ward. If I bring glasses in, someone steals them and puts up a notice to use disposable cups. Our sacrament cups also get thrown out every week.

GuestThe Church leadership has been building “greener” buildings for a while now. Locally . . . that’s still a “water getting to the end of the row” issue in most places – and we have a long way to go to fix that. November 18, 2013 at 10:00 pm #275664Anonymous
GuestBut why? We get environmentalist propaganda on the TV all the time, and films, and the government’s at it too. If people aren’t getting it from outside the church, I wonder how they’ll adapt within it. Slowest boats in the convoy? -
