I taught a lesson on Obedience today in gospel essentials. It was sort of a hard one to teach when you’re a buffet Mormon. The lesson goes on about how “no commandment is too small to obey” — that those who love God keep his commandments etcetera. That God wants obedience even when you don’t understand the reasons why you should obey etcetera. How this life is a test to see if we will do ALL thing the Lord asks of us……although I know Ray says we’re all buffet Mormons, even temple recommend-holders, it left me feeling pretty hollow about my commitment level right now.

I have to simply console myself that at least I”m active and serving and to all outward appearances to my kids, I’m a good example of someone trying to live a clean life. I think that’s all I can hope for right now. To go full-out as I have at different times in the past is simply not in the cards right now…..

I hear SD. I had to teach a lesson on the priesthood today. Very very difficult. I also have a hard time with the “buffet” mormon approach – and I worry about “justification”. The comment and commentary in class were very offensive to me personally. I was able to stick to the manual today — but it was not “uplifting” to me at all. Very demoralizing Sunday for my spiritual growth.
