I just ran across a JRH quote that seems to make the opposite point as the JRH quote that I cited above.
“Because Jesus walked such a long lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to”
Therefore it would seem that both can be true at the same time, because Jesus (as the greatest of all) had a rough time then we might expect difficulty as well AND Jesus forged the path that we follow and walks beside us.
At the risk of being cliche – it can be like that poem of the footprints in the sand. We can have hardships in life where it may feel like we are walking alone AND Jesus might be carrying us through those difficult moments at the same time. It can shift greatly depending on our perspective and the point that we are trying to emphasize in the moment.
