Lectures in The Teaching Company’s library
This was just fascinating. Love Bart’s work, he is really well spoken. This is not a faith-promoting work by any means, but a marvelous look at the evidence from a secular scholar’s point of view. He goes through it all in extreme detail.
He takes great pains to explain how a historian views the evidence for and against our current day understanding of Jesus. Could be devastating to a black-and-white type thinker. Knowing that Bart comes at this from an ex-evangelical ex-Christian viewpoint is helpful, I think. He never once gives a single clue through the entire lecture.
Off Topic, I think it’s interesting also to note that Bart’s disaffection from Christianity arises from the question of evil, not the questionable beliefs we have of Jesus Christ today.
