This is one of my favorite quotes, and I think it is a great description of the foundation of what I mean when I talk about “pure Mormonism”. I would expand it a bit from “mind” to “soul” – but the concept is fundamental to me.

That’s cool, Ray! Reminds me of the saying, “The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know”. There’s something profound in that as well, when applied to fowler’s stages. sorry for the thread-borrow. 😳

Buddhism gets covered in one of the other posts. But I don’t feel that there is enough emphasis on mental exercises and meditation etc in the COJCOLDS. Some times they are of great practical use. I was in great (physical) pain last night with something, and in the end up, I had to use breathing exercises plus certain mind techniques to try and overcome it. (Which I did, to a degree.) However, this is stuff, I’ve learnt more from Oriental belief systems than the LDS, although it is of practical use.

It’s actually less esoteric than it sounds!

I like that too. We already are on fire…just need to throw some kindling in…which is??? Meditation/stillness, openness, humility, hope…And maybe we need to get through the ego (or rocks that are covering up the fire – or stop throwing water on it. ;)).
