LH, that’s a tough one. It must be hard to have these changes happening all around and the old guard feeling like theyre losing ‘their church’, or the way they think things ought to be. You didn’t attack him personally or his standing or lifestyle though, only his thinking. The proposition of a differing point of view isn’t an attack anyway, but i get where you’re coming from.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Lookinghard your post reminds me how at times we stumble on the minutia that is almost Pharisaical when it comes to doctrine and rule keeping and Christ becomes forgotten. I have been learning that Christ is much more sympathetic and loving than our perception of his love. Yes he cleansed the temple, however the rest of his ministry was an approach of love, even to those who was thought upon to not be loved due to sin.

Hi Yonni. I just wanted to say welcome and hello!

I have also realized over the years that the church is what it is, and people in the church are trying to understand and convey the gospel principles, even if through inadequate communication. When I honestly reflect on my faith journey, I think I was the one that misunderstood Christ’s love and the gospel teachings. I don’t think collectively the church does or does not misperceive things or become too pharisaical…I think individuals do, I think I may have misunderstood it in some ways. But now I can accept a different point of view, and when I adjust my thinking in such a way, I see that many others in the church do also. In other words, because I may have felt there was not enough talk on Christ at church or his love, does not actually mean there was or was not, if that makes sense.

One can StayLDS and change the thinking, because there is a lot of different thinking in the church. There is not just one perception. There is just our perception.
