cwald just told me that Tobin is a troll who derails every discussion with alien comments – and that he is a hardcore polygamy defender who believes Joseph could do no wrong. He said Tobin came here because of a thread elsewhere that mentioned us. Let’s keep an eye on him.

Tobin, I’m starting to see several of your posts that are calling for others to reread your posts instead of talking about content or your ideas themselves.
In the above example…I believe Ray was just stating his opinion. That was not your point, it was his point.
You may want to consider clarifying your points in subsequent posts or ask them questions if you feel others are not understanding you, but I’d suggest you try different ways to keep the discourse cordial here rather than telling others to reread your posts or pointing out in a combative way that you didn’t say something.
We just want to keep the atmosphere here free and open for everyone to share ideas and have a dialogue, and it is good to express ourselves and our own unique ideas, and allow others to do the same.
I hope that makes sense…just something for consideration…not saying you are not welcome here to share your ideas and your personality, just providing you some feedback.

Send it – as much to see how he responds as anything else. I do that sometimes when I’m uncomfortable with a comment or an impression of an underlying attitude. I like to see where the person’s heart is.

Let me say in response that I really don’t have a problem with Ray bringing up JS’s polygamy and I do understand he brought it up. What I was pointing out is the fact that I was not the one that brought it up, since I did not believe it was relevant to the thread. I was simply discussing section 132 and the context under which I believe it was given and added to the D&C. I don’t feel it is right to be chastised for bringing up something I simply did not mention. That was the point I was trying to bring across.
I re-read his comment and will apologize in that thread. I’ve been a bit distracted the last couple of days, for some reason.
Thanks Ray. Even still…I hope he tries a little harder so he isn’t so combatitive or defensive. I don’t like posts that just say “Go reread my post. That’s not what I said.” Anyway, we’ll see if he catches on.

I locked Tobin’s thread about the Gold Plates, with an explanatory comment at the end. Let me know what all of you think. This is exactly what cwald said would happen – and he has no interest whatsoever in listening to others – nor does the thread advance our mission in any way.
He obsesses about having been visited by aliens / higher beings and how everyone should seek that same experience. He inserts it in almost every comment.
I don’t mind opening the thread, if everyone want to do that, but I thought we should close it while we talk about it.
Good call. I couldn’t exactly follow what he was saying.
He doesn’t believe the Book of Mormon, but he does believe the plates are not only real but the most significant technological advancement of all time?
:crazy: He was trolling, and I’m not sure he even knows he was. He was just trying to argue his point, which, I’m not even sure what his point was.
Yeah, Heber, that is a glaring part of his argument. Real plates of advanced technology that prove inter-species interaction by telling a fictional story . . . I think he’s saying he sees it as fictional right now but would change his mind if he actually could see them – but pretty much everyone would do that.
The sick person in me wants to ask him why the aliens he met didn’t tell him about the plates, but I just don’t have the energy or inclination to ask and try to understand.

I tell you if I was visited by aliens, I would never tell another living soul. I say keep the thread locked to reaffirm the point. Then I think we watch him and his other posts closely.
