As alluded to in the OP, our ward is hopelessly out of sync with the rest of the world… even for PH apparently . We had a different lesson from the manual. :|

What am I complaining about, our ward is bucking the trend of correlation. 🙂

It looks like I’ll always be a few weeks behind in the report back discussion.

Our lesson went very well. I focused on the difference between the words “literal”, “symbolic”, and “figurative” – what it means for the temple itself to be a symbol – and then we talked about indivudal members and their favorite temple symbolism.

I only had twenty minutes, so it was a good reason to focus so narrowly and not read any of the lesson quotes.

We had this lesson today and it was a kick.

The teacher is a young mom. She began explaining the intent of the lesson, then went on to say that it just doesn’t fit in her life right now. Where ever she was going to go with the lesson never materialized. Very quickly it turned into family story and family history stuff. We have a couple of octogenarians in the ward and one who is ninety. Between the three of them we heard more details of their childhoods. Their cousins who all lived in the same town. And so on.

After we covered that, a middle age women talked about her mother who had recently passed and all the scrapbooks, boxes, and assorted stuff. How important it was for her kids to see, touch, smell the memories of grandmas’s life.

We ran overtime. Laughed a lot. Shared much.
