What I believe deeply is that there won’t be pregnancy or gestational birth. In other words, if there is sex, I believe it won’t have anything to do with procreation.

So women who are denied the experience in this life of feeling a child inside their womb, and long for that with all their heart (feeling that little body wiggle around), will never have that happen ever BECAUSE there is no such thing in the next life? Even if they desire that to happen, wanting to experience it for their selves?

Just curious how desire and want fit into what you are saying here….honest curiosity.

And, the other thing is what purpose would a womb have in a woman’s resurrected body if they never use it for anything? It seems like a waste to have a meaningless body part with no purpose.

Heaven is probably going to be a disappointment when we let other people define our heaven for us.

I know some people who like Golf. I personally don’t, but they do. So can they go play golf in heaven because they want to,…and no other reason? Is God “anti-Golf” because it isn’t the “best” or “better” choice, or whatever reason you want to discount it?

Well, if you’re truly perfected, I think scoring 18 on every course is going to get boring pretty quickly.

nah…I know some people who would like to do that over and over and over……and over. With a big Texas grin on their face.

I believe that we as Mormons believe that there will be sex in heaven.

Why else would gender be an essential characteristic, marriage be required for exaltation/godhood, and gay marriage be apostasy?

I like the idea of loosening this interpretation and imagining peopling planets through non-sexual means precisely because it might allow us to be more flexible with our non-heterosexual brothers and sisters.

I believe we tend to picture Heaven as being whatever we want most for it to be.

I have no problem hoping sex is possible there and will celebrate appropriately if that is the case ;) , but I am certain my wife wants nothing to do with never-ending pregnancy – so I choose to reject that idea.

It really is that simple for me.

Never ending pregnancy doesn’t sound fun. But must sex always be only about pregnancy? Are we getting into the “pleasure for pleasure” problem here?

    Not so sure about this.

Jehovah was a God before being mortal as Jesus, and as far as anyone can demonstrate, isn’t married.

The Holy Ghost has no body, and is exalted as a God, and a member of the Godhead.

Elohim was a God before he organized a wife.

…Or until she organized Elohim. Maybe we don’t hear much about Heavenly Mother because she is trying to let her creations practice their priesthood she gave them?

Either way…sex isn’t the only option for eternal beings to create.

I respect everyone here, and am generally surprised there is such a spread of opinion on this one. Someone above said we really know very little about the next life.

It is interesting to me we are told that the next world is SOOOO wonderful, and yet we know so very little about it. The most credible information I am aware of come through NDE events. It is surprising to me that the source is outside the LDS faith.

Thank you to everyone for your posts.

It sure would be a bummer if we went around telling each other than the next life was going to be awful… or worse yet, more of the same. ;)

It’s okay to manufacture hope. Where else does hope come from?

Yikes. I better eat some chocolate and quit for the day.

But, manufactured hope is and can often be manipulative. That part is what bothers me.

    For example:

If you just pray enough and have enough faith, God will heal you of your SSA concerns…….

If you just pay your tithing and keep the commandments, you will have all your needs taken care of…….

    If,…

    If,…

    If,…

Don’t like this type of hope manufacturing….

Yet we do it all the time.

We do. And, it bothers me because it is, to me, a form of deceit. If we know FOR SURE the outcome, then make the promise and build the hope. If we don’t know, then make sure those who are being given the line know it might work, but there are no guarantees. I think there is a line of honesty that is skirted and smeared, and it is part of LOTS of what leaders say.
