I am catching up late. Rumor is the meeting was better than the last one. Of course Uchtdorf was spot on. He told a long parable about a girl named Eva with her Grandmother. The final message was

    Quote:

Love. The Pure Love of Christ. Everything else, all the should’s, musts and thou shalt’s lead to love. When we love God we want to serve him. We want to be like him. When we love our neighbor, we stop thinking about our own problems and help others to solve theirs.

I didn’t attend and haven’t listened to the rest but this is good enough for me.

I adore Pres. Uchtdorf. I was at another event last night so didn’t hear any of it. Even if I wasn’t I probably still wouldn’t have listened. Can anyone who did listen say what it was like?

Pres. Uchtdorf simply radiates love and good cheer. I also thought Sis. Wixom had a really good, well-defined message.

Overall, I would call it a mixed bag. What session isn’t?

If the thread gets added to, I have more thoughts. The last half of Sis. Reeves’ talk was where some minefields went off for me. (I’m also thinking about minefields. What happens if I clear them out?)

It seemed to me that Uchtdorf was channeling Paul – setting up all the rhetorical strawmen, then knocking them down. And he sees in the Mormon people what I see in them. My one regret with his story (which was about a maiden aunt, not a grandmother) is that she wasn’t a pipe-smoking lesbian. I would have preferred her to be a little further off the reservation, a cowboy Jesus if you will. I’m a sucker for the underdog.

Me, too. Except mine made moonshine. Perhaps they were neighbors.
