    Quote:

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

    Quote:

War metaphors give a community a shared foe, a common cause. It feels good to think that the enemy is those bad people over there, while we’re in a place of righteousness over here. By focusing our eye outwards, the war metaphor helps us avoid the difficult work of looking within.

Saw this one floating around on the ether.

“Authenticity is not about being unfiltered. It’s about staying true to your principles.

The goal isn’t to voice every opinion you hold. It’s to stand up for ideas that are consistent with your ideals.

Being genuine is closing the gap between what you value and what you express.”

My wife sent me an anonymous quote from Instagram today:

    Quote:

“YOU ARE NOT LOST. Even the deepest held beliefs can be outgrown. Let them be outgrown. It’s ok to say you needed more than they had to offer. Let them go, and go find more.”

I remember how big of a victory it was for her to acknowledge that my faith crisis was not a temporary state that I was going to snap out of or wake up from. It meant that she would stop holding out hope for a marriage partner that didn’t exist anymore and start building a life with the marriage partner that she had. We have come a long way and grown together.

Good quote, and I apologize in advance for this one but the first thing that came to mind when I read it was:
