I don’t know where the discussion about this is really located, so created a new topic.

I’m a member of the A Thoughtful Faith Facebook group. I don’t participate because I’m a chicken. I don’t pay super-close attention to it because of that, but noticed a post from Lindsay that things had “escalated” quickly. That’s when I saw their blog and all that followed, from her point of view. I recently asked her for the chain of events and she said I could share. So, fwiw:

“Kirk put his blog up in early February. About a week after the blog went up, he got a call from the bishop. [She later said that the SP had called this to the bishop’s attention.] In the meeting with the bishop, he was told to take the blog down or alter it. After a week Kirk said that we would be willing to alter some parts of the post. The bishop called him back and said that the post had to come down, he couldn’t just alter it. The bishop said the SP had consulted with a 70 and the 70 said to take it down. Then the SP came to our house and met with us. The SP mentioned that a few days after the post had gone up, he had gotten a call from SLC telling him to get the post down. The SP asked if we would be willing to meet with a 70. We agreed. It is unclear if it is the same 70 he talked to earlier. The 70 met with us and wants to meet again. That’s where we are today.”

What still isn’t clear to me is whether this all happened in Missouri. I get the impression they moved to MO for Kirk’s work. From other comments (which she says a sharable) at the site, I’m gathering that they were pretty uninspired by the meeting with the 70 because he said that he’d read the blog (I take this as Kirk’s first post), but at the time of their meeting had not read: Lindsay’s second post, the Haleses’ response or (this boggles my mind) any of the church’s polygamy essays. She said he was very nice.
