Ann, I might not say anything about plural marriage over the pulpit, dependeding on the day, but I have expressed my opinion in class and in private many times and there has nerver been any pushback. In fact, every single person I have talked to about this issue has said that they could not live the practice.

I have a gay nephew, so my thoughts and feeling I changed over the years about LGBT issues. My sister once told me that her HT brought over a framed copy of the proclamation on the family and she said “thanks I will hang up right next to the picture of my gay son and his partner” I would tell that story over the pulpit myself. I think and do share my the idea in class that I would be ok If the church moved in a opened direction toward SSA equality.

I have expressed lots of unorthodox beliefs over the pulpit, but I have tried, always, to do it in a way that is not threatening and is, obviously, grounded in scripture and accepted doctrine. When I can’t do that, I don’t share something over the pulpit – but I do share any number of those things in personal discussions and in classes.

I try hard to follow the principle, in a church setting, “Above all else, do no harm.”

That is the approach I try to take.
