Website issues over the weekend

I got a lot of timeout errors Sunday afternoon. The site wouldn’t load. I’m not sure how long the outage lasted. The problem resolved itself after a few hours.

I’ve seen this problem one or two other times. Probably something that just happens, maybe an issue with our host (inmotion).

I did see in the logs how people are constantly trying to brute force hack the wordpress site. This is a long standing issue and Brian must have been aware of it because he deleted the wordpress login page years ago.

I did ban a few hundred IPs in Singapore that were trying to access the nonexistent wordpress login page over and over again.

Just thought I’d make people aware of the goings on.

Thanks for your efforts – that’s a lot of bots to ban! For what it’s worth I did not encounter any access issues over the weekend, but I’m not sure I tried any time Sunday afternoon (I wouldn’t have wanted to interrupt my football watching ).
