I think Mormonism reduces Heavenly Father to a weakling sometimes… what’s the point in worshipping a weakling? I don’t think God is in fact like that.

While I can see the point in progression, eternal progression means nothing. You will eventually reach a point at which you are all powerful, otherwise we’re just like a donkey with a carrot dangled in front of it, which never seems to quite reach it.

Interesting thought. If there is an end point which reason dictates there must be, what does it matter how long it takes to get there if you have eternity. A thousand or a hundred billion years it is all the same. At some point. We all get to the end of the road.

I think a long long nap sounds just about as good.

Could you clarify how you see mormonism reducing HF to a weakling? Just curious.

Sisyphus is in pretty good shape… provided he really enjoys rolling rocks up hills.

I’m on the fence. I admit, I find many lessons boring because I’ve heard them a thousand times before. I’d be worried that if I reached a point where I was all powerful and all knowing that I’d be thoroughly bored with existence. That said, the one unique thing in some of the more boring lessons is the human interactions. They can be very similar from lesson to lesson but you can’t be 100% certain what questions will be asked and what experiences will be shared. Perhaps our interactions with others is what keeps the omniscient life fresh.

I think that Mormonism promotes human beings (which I don’t entirely disagree with), and demotes Heavenly Father (which I do.)

There seems to be a thread in Mormonism, probably originating in the “God was a Man” and “Heavenly Father has a physical body” ideas, that says God is not very powerful, and has his hands tied and that eventually we’ll supersede him.
