My wife has the following stuck on our refrigerator. I saw it tonight and thought I’d share it, since I believe it is truly profound in its entirety – and when looked at as individual statements.
When I am angry, three things are true:
1) There is something that I’m wanting that I’m not getting.
2) I’m telling myself that someone ought to be giving it to me.
3) I’m about to speak or behave in a way that will virtually assure that I won’t get what I want – or at least assure that even if I get it, it won’t be in the way I’d want it the most.
