I do think that some beliefs like a literal interpretation of the 6-day creation around 4000 B.C., a global flood, and the Tower of Babel stories would be better described as a delusion than a reasonable leap of faith.

Ignoring things that can be seen, quite easily, but aren’t seen, technically might qualify as faith (since the person doing the ignoring actually might not be able to see those things due specifically to his or her unwillingness to look), but I can’t call it faith in the purest sense of the word – which I believe is hope in what CANNOT be seen. I personally would call it misguided faith – and, in saying that, I know full well that many people would and do say that about much of my own faith.
