Maybe “craziness” is also a way of wishing away certain things which are ugly but sane. We’re into the bad vs mad (i.e. insane) argument which plagues legal process. Seems to me that prejudice against the other, hatred, anger, selfishness and violence are hard-wired into our DNA. They can be found in other primate species.
We are here because our ancestors survived. Other lines were killed off. Our ancestors include rapists, robbers, murderers and tyrants – it explains why we are as we are. Collective action helped us survive – so did brute force.
I’d say bigotry is pretty universal. I know of no tribe who truly lack it.

[Admin Note]: Given the events of the past few days, this obviously is relevant – but I need to repeat the core message of my earlier caution: This is a highly-charged issue. For example, I see it as an abomination of the highest order and a perversion of the Gospel – and I wish she and other white supremacists would be excommunicated if they refuse to repudiate their current belords. Thus, it could be easy for it to spiral downward quickly and move away from our mission. Just be careful, everyone, please. Comment a little more slowly than you might naturally.

Surely this TR Question would cover nastier political elements? I don’t think their practices are in line with current LDS teachings.
Such people bring the church into serious disrepute.
