GuestSome people wonder why Kirby of the SLTrib has not been Excomunicated, and yesterday he also pondered that question in his . Some good advive on how/why he Stays LDS.Trib artical here(Note: The SLTrib is considered an Anti-Mormon newspaper by many TBMs in the Utah area. Do not click on the above link if the Trib offends you)

GuestThe Tribune is not an anti-Mormon site, and I am sure nobody here views it that way. /Carry on

GuestThe comments on Kirby’s columns are sometimes as entertaining as Kirby himself. Almost weekly there are those (possibly trolls, and not the cute kind in the movie) who chime in and ask the very question Kirby addresses. Others suggest he quit. It’s pretty simple from where I sit – he has not been ex’ed (or disciplined in any other way) because he doesn’t challenge the leadership. And he’s not ready (or perhaps even inclined) to quit. In his words from this column (emphasis added): Quote:If I had to guess as to why I haven’t been disciplined, I’d have to say it’s because I’m not so emotionally invested that it came down to that.
Besides, it’s easy to avoid trouble.Indeed it is easy to stay out of trouble – don’t go preaching bad stuff from the pulpit and don’t directly oppose the leadership and you’re fine. Don’t try to gain followers or form an opposing group, either – neither of which Kirby does.
I also loved this line from the column:
Quote:Ironically, I wouldn’t fare any better in an ex-Mo chat room discussion than I do in High Priest Group. Given the number of people in these two groups who presume to know what’s best for me better than I do myself, it’s a wonder they don’t get along more.
Having had (endured) stake conference this weekend, I certainly relate to the idea of those who presume to know what’s best for me better than I do.

GuestI LOVE Kirby’s humor. He is the best. November 7, 2016 at 5:16 pm #315747Anonymous
GuestI like that he keeps it light while still being specific about his disagreements with doctrine and practice. -
