I’d rather people were English, Irish, Scots, Welsh, Manx etc than some kind of colonial descriptor. It’s like identifying as Soviet.

Britain doesn’t even exist for most people in the world. As I pointed out.

There are plenty of UK people who don’t identify as British outside the church. See surveys above. Personal experience too. The church has few of them though Because it has few political rebels. As usual, the church is out of touch. Why? Is it run by UKIP? No, they don’t tow the line enough.

The most notable LDS politician in the UK is a Scot nat. No idea if he identifies as Brutish, some do, some don’t.

In the UK, I have heard members make republican statements. Never heard from the stand, which is odd as the BoM comes out against monarchy on several occasions.

Fair enough, perhaps I’ve just got a different group of Mormons I associate with. I know a broad range of political views (including nationalists, socialists and republicans) and I can’t see them batting an eye-lid at this being called the British Pageant given most people I know don’t consider the church to be making any kind of statement beyond ‘this is a pageant about the history of the Saints in 19thC in England, Scotland and Wales.’

I’m not going to argue about Imperialism, I am very aware that England has a dirty history. If you or the people you associate with feel differently to me about the term ‘British’ then I’m not going to argue with that either. I can see why, I just don’t the church had any underlying motives when it chose the name.
