Just curious if anyone has an opinion on, or perhaps quotes from GA’s or other sources about whether there will be money, or something equivalent in the next life after resurrection (or even before). It seems that the need for money in this life is based quite a bit on our physical body, which needs to be fed, clothed, and sheltered. When we are spirits, will it be the same somehow, even though we don’t have a physical body?

I know we can’t “take it with us” to the next life, as they say, but do we start all over again with building credits or something of value in our subsequent lives? I know the place between mortality and resurrection is a spirit prison or spirit paradise, where everyone rests in the latter of the two spirit worlds. But do we eventually have to earn a living like we do now?

I have a feeling the answer is “yes”. In a way, I look forward to having something worklike to do in the next life. I would probably be a teacher of some kind.

I realize this is a murky topic, but I wondered what others think.

I feel that the descriptions of how things work in heaven that are the most detailed seem to be the least reliable.

Therefore, I feel that you can imagine a heaven that is the most fulfilling for you (and theoretically the real heaven will be even better than you can imagine).

I do not like to imagine money in my heaven as it is a symbol of inequality. I prefer to imagine that everyone contributes because it brings them fulfillment.

We watch a lot of anime – which has themes of Divine Beings co-existing with mortals and offers hints of possibilities of how non-mortal existence works. It’s interesting to see aspects of “what non-mortal beings owe mortal beings”.

Anime of Interest in this Theme:

  • The Devil is a Part-Timer
  • NOTE: “Devil” in this context is more of an species with “Angel” being another species. It’s not how we define it in LDS theology.

  • The entire Isekai genre

  • NOTE: This genre is about individual(s) being transported from our mortal world to a different world/dimension. Sometimes there is a storyline about how a God intervened to provide the transportation – guilt, curiosity, and gratitude/recognition of merit are common Divine motivations.

“The Good Omens” and “The Good Place” are TV shows that also deal with the Divine and their actions with humans. I actually highly recommend both of these shows – especially if you are in a slightly rebellious and/or philosophical mood.

To my mind, money is a proxy value for Growth/Development, Reputation and Status. I really hope that it isn’t the next level of red-tape with random assignments and promotions. I’d like to think that the next life is about community and creation instead of organization.

I doubt it greatly. If so, I might abstain and go off somewhere with my wife. 😄

If the same principles of wealth accumulation apply in one of our next lives, then I’m all for it. I have learned a lot about how to build wealth, and I made a lot of mistakes getting here. To be able to start over again with the same set of rules is like being given a new life.

One thing we know is that temple work will advance substantially in the millennium. So, names and proxy ordinances don’t just run by themselalso still have to work for temporal comforts during that period. I think it’s probably so — otherwise, what do you do all day?

And do resurrected beings need to be fed, clothed, and sheltered — probably so. We wouldn’t walk around nude in our perfect bodies. We will still need private settings for using our bodies in sex probably, and maybe even going to the bathroom. We know that Christ ate a fish after being resurrected, so eating is probably part of our millennial existence. And with that comes the need for substance and transactions.

Hate to say it Old_Timer, but I think you’ll still have to eke out an existence somehow. Although I expect there will be greater deference to the poor given the advanced kind of people who are resurrected at the beginning of the millenium.

The CK is the place where you have hair (even long hair) perfectly in place that is soft to the touch (without generating any uncomfortable sensations when it brushes your neck), without any weird products, and never ever gets in the way:)

I personally want “adventurer’s gear” in terms of a loose-ish/slightly flowy, comfortable butt-length tunic and yoga-pant comfortable loose leggings. And a backpack of Holding:)
