GuestHey guys, sorry – been a little on and off the radar. Do you still think I should PM her or is it a bit late now? March 11, 2012 at 8:41 pm #247853Anonymous
GuestIf you are willing to be her venting source, I say go for it – but, honestly, I’m not sure I would want that potential barrage and volatility. At this point, I’m just wondering if we back off and see how she does . . . March 12, 2012 at 1:07 am #247854Anonymous
GuestI’m going to let this one lie for now. I’ve got a crazy 2 weeks, then I’m off to India for spring break. March 12, 2012 at 4:30 am #247855Anonymous
GuestI really don’t want her to take over conversations again and demand things be locked. Some others want to share opinions and don’t like the locking just because she asks for it. I will keep an eye out if she gets on the board and starts posting again, because we may need to intervene. If she doesn’t come back, then it just is a non-issue, but if she keeps being demanding, I still think the forum would be better off without her.
For now, we’ll wait and see.

GuestI think I tried to type this in, but it got lost – I am questioning locking the threads at the request of the person who started the discussion. I don’t think they own the discussion just because they started it. Mods and admins can close a thread because we monitor the discussion. But she’s not a mod or admin. I am not sure we should take orders from her. Maybe that’s just going to end in a flame out, but I wonder if it’s right to agree to those kinds of demands.

GuestWeown the threads and all the content people post on our site. I recommend we lock them only when they become disruptive or violate our mission/etiquette (as we normally but seldom do). Her solution is to stop posting to them, and they will fade away into history.

GuestI will unlock them and move them back into circulation. I’m totally fine with that. As I said, I wanted to talk about it and find out what everyone else wanted to do. March 13, 2012 at 6:23 am #247837Anonymous
GuestI agree with the sentiments expressed. I wonder if it is a good idea to unlock them in a week or 2 when they are farther down the thread list so she doesn’t notice that they’ve been unlocked? It might avoid a confrontation. March 13, 2012 at 2:44 pm #247859Anonymous
GuestThey are off the recent threads screen. If she notices, she will have to have been looking. At this point, I don’t care. I think it’s the right thing to do, and if she complains, we can ask her gently to leave and not come back – especially since that was one of her own options. GuestAs long as she stops participating, they will drift off into the void of history. I think everything is fine now. Leaving a half dozen locked threads in public view leaves a bad impression. I had a PM from someone asking what was up with that. Not a big deal really either way IMO, but I’d rather just leave them out there unlocked and instead “lock” the person having the problems in this case (wonderingcurrent). -
